Well thanks to the lovely Twitter-holic Stephen Fry-- he's bringing awareness to this pretty god-awful NZ copyright law.
In 12 days, the new sections of the New Zealand Copyright Amendment Act 2008 come into force. These new sections, part of Section 92, bring into effect "guilt upon accusation" whereby anyone, anyone at all, can accuse a New Zealand resident of copyright infringement without any requirement for evidence, and ISP's, which will be forced to act as Internet Police, must then remove internet access.
There is no right for contesting the claim. Too bad if it's a fake claim...or if the IP is being used by a school, library, university, or business.
Obviously Australia is having its own Internet crisis...so I can definitely sympathise...and I know how these "great ideas" can spread.

Good luck NZ. I feel your pain.
