Don't parents ever learn?!?

Hi Guys,
Meet Connie Talbot...the newest UK child 'wonder'. Call me a killjoy...but this is going to end in all kinds of trouble. Lena Zavaroni, Lindsay, Britney, Charlotte Church, Macauley Culkin...
Always bad.

Still...she IS indeed very very cute.

I'm crying like a baby. She's marvelous and I so hope that her life, like so many before her, won't be ruined by her talent.

Sorry but she's kinda annoying.....

Talent? She's a little doll but her singing is not good.

I would hardly compare her to Britney Spears. She has the grace and "so far" the upbringing of a well developed young English girl.

Having been to England; it's my heritage; I have seen very many young people in their teens and 20's. More often in this country, when a child is raised in a stable home, they remain a vision of grace. Such is Connie. :)

Normally I'm a horribly judgemental cow when it comes to these things. I worked in theater for 10 years and perfomed as a kid so I have been around too many obnoxious little sods not to be a little jaded.

However... she is a cutie and she has a really unusual voice. She has this whole rare kiddie vibrato thing going on and she seems to be a regular sweet kid.

Good luck to her, I just hope stardom doesn't ruin her.

I can't stop thinking what the fuck the parents are thinking of, putting their daughter into a competition like this. Way too young and she may be cute and blah blah but WTF!? The singing doesn't do me much as well it's a child singing and how cute and so on.

hate to be cynical kitty - but I agree with you. The parents are thinking of what else? ....Money.

yeah the staged 'happy father's day' bit was a bit much but still, she seemed young in herself and that's a rare thing. You see so many of these kids on stage talking like 30 year olds before puberty shows its ugly head. It's weird. Miley Cyrus is my poster child for that movement!!

I do hope she's kept in the right direction and that we're wring about her folks but I can;t help but wonder...

Sandra, by the way. I am English, I live in the US now and have done for 2 years so I have see n both sides. I can honestly say the outcome of a person's upbringing is no different there than in the US. Grace is something you develop on a personal level. Nationality has nothing to do with it. I have friends that endured the most terrible hardship as kids; living in unstable and terrible homes that turned out to be graceful and hgard working adults. I also know people that had two loving and kid parents who turned out to be demons. I could give you specifics but I'll spare you.

The upshot of it is that at her age who knows what she will become. She has to be guided in the right direction and she'll hopefully stay on the path. Do we even KNOW anything about her parents?? Ultimately, we all just hope she's taken care of and that they are good people that aren't consumed by how much they are able to buy and sell their child for.

As far as how she looks and her development and grace, I am sure Britters looked cute and sweet when she was donning the black ears for Disney. No one has a crystal ball, you just have to hope for the best.

I've written other places, if Connie was a violin or piano prodigy nobody would say she shouldn't perform in public or should work for free.

The record deal got her a trust fund for schooling. Her parents went along with the talent show tryout for a lark.

She's now the youngest artist to ever have a UK top 40 album, a more significant success than being runner up in a talent show.

May be a million people will chip in $20 to her trust fund and she'll retire.

You people make me sad... When I was seven I wanted to be a cowboy astronaut working for the CIA. If my parents had had any form of motivation to guide me, I guarantee you I'd be wrangling asteroids in the name of national security right now. I fail to see how signing a child who loves to sing, who isn't the greatest singer ever - but is pretty good, up for a competition where she could possibly make a name for herself is a bad thing.

Eh, I take it back. You're probably right. I suppose we should just push her through the "normal" routine and let her be like everyone else.

Talk about exploiting cuteness; the girl can't sing! Or even close her mouth, by the look of it.

I think all of you guys who are saying such negative things towards this little girl and her parents are just jealous that you were unable to do anything with your life. This little girl is amazing for only being 6 years old. So give it up and stop being so bitter!!!
