Five Bucks a Pop

O.K...so last time I was a little bit mean to Dennis Quaid and his Hollywood Walk of Fame Star...but we all worked together and eventually came up with something resembling a body of work...but Queen Latifah?!? Getting a 'star' is definitely easier than getting a copy of Paris's sex tape...I mean, Latifah's last 'major' movie Taxi placed me on suicide watch...

I think celeb's have to pay for a star, so really anyone can get one as long as they're well known and a member of the Academy.

I have to disagree with you. I think Queen Latifah definitely deserves a star. She's been a rap star, a TV star, and a movie star. Additionally, she got nominated for an Academy Award, and won a Golden Globe and a SAG award.

Olivia is right - The celebrity definitely pays for it (or gets someone to buy it). I don't know the qualifications, but they aren't just "given" one for a body of work.

I think what happens is that anybody that wants to be considered for one must pay 15K, and then they decide. So you're paying to be considered for one.

No matter what though, it is definitely a Hollywood tool, you'll notice that stars usually get them whenever they have some movie coming out (recall Nicole Kidman and the Others iirc, Keanu Reeves and Constantine). It means very little.

Wrong icon, queenie, your only good work was in rap. Possibly a lifetime achievement award in media tenacity...

The Three Stooges were either dead or nearly so when they got a star. Nowadays any no talent with a publicity machine gets one. They're about as important as dead trees in the forest.

What about Ryan Seacrest--didn't he get a star? Talk about ridciously undeserving.

Queen deserves a star! She is a star, she's an actress--for which she won several awards including a Golden Globe, producer, rapper, singer, desingers, model/spokes person and a host of other things! She's been in this business going on 20+ years and going STRONG!! So don't hate...congratulate!

Oh and her performance as a gay woman in the movie 'Set It Off' was simply amazing! If you haven't seen it, do so!

yeah...I probably can't talk...I've only really ever seen her in that godawful Taxi...which probably wasn't her best work.
