The Award goes to...Restylane

Keira's up for a Golden Globe nomination. My goodness...what is it with doing an English period film that makes everyone think that some how...you can act...putting on old clothes, pouting around, and giggling does not a good actress make. Keira's "Elizabeth Brennet" in Pride and Prejudice...was as stomach turning as Gwyneth's Viola in Shakespeare in Love...

...and I think that's that worst thing I've ever said about anyone's acting ability...which is saying something.

I'm just not seeing the stunning part about her...seriously...I don't see it at all. I don't think that's ever happened to me. Even with Cameron Diaz...I can see why some people think she's pretty...but with Keira...I just think she always looks uncomfortable...and weird...in an ugly way. That damn pout and the nose-pushed down...ugh.

^ Amen sister!! I am really feeling you! I've said it before, I'll say it again, I don't get Keira Knightley. It took me forever to figure out just who the hell she was, and then, when I finally did find out, I was like "OOOO-K, why are people making so much fuss over this weird-ass looking boy?" And then I found out it was a girl (I guess the name should have clued me in, because her pre-pubescent boy's figure didn't help at all).

Elisa, I have to disagee with you (rare, I know). But just a little -KK doesn't deserve an award but she wasn't lousy in the film.

I just saw Pride and Prejudice on Monday. Its my fave book so I'm biased but I don't think its possible to screw it up. For the first time (other than in Bend it like Beckham when she wasn't the lead) I actually liked Kiera Knightley. It helped a lot that the director used only head shots as much as possible and stayed away from her boyish body (especially compared to the gorgeous Rosamund Pike who played Jane)so Keira didn't have to do much. Mostly she made a lot of faces and showed off her fangish teeth a lot (and oh yeah - cried). It wasn't an Award-winning turn (anyone who's seen Jennifer Ehle in the role in the TV mini-series a few years ago will NOT be impressed by Keira) but Lizzie Bennett is one of the best written females in classic English literature. I think any good-looking actress would have gotten nominated. Jane Austen works wonders on bad actors - remember that even Gwyneth and her faux-British accent was decent in the movie version of "Emma".

Jack - you've almost convinced me to *maybe* watch P&P now. Because it's my favourite book (and I love the A&E version) I was completely horrified when I found out they'd cast Keira as Lizzie - if she was going to be in it at all she should've been Lydia! Elizabeth is such a fantastic heroine that I can hardly believe KK would do her any sort of justice...that POUT!!! Is it really okay, or are you just a secret Keira fan?

Anners, I personally don't believe that any actress can destroy Eliz. Bennett.

I do like Keira's when she smiles without showing those teeth (it resembles that of a child/teenager) but now that you mention it - she pouts a LOT in this film. In between jags of crying or near crying and giggling. But she's not wooden, the director doesn't make us see her curve-less body, and while yes, she's probably the worst thing in the film, the rest of the class is VERY good. The guy they picked for Darcy is almost as good as Colin Firth (in a different way - McFayden plays Darcy as shy and tongue-tied rather than brooding). And you can't go wrong with Donald Sutherland and Judi Dench.

she's not the worst looking actress i've ever seen but she should tweeze her eyebrows....too thick.

i am probably going to be in the minority here but I DON'T HATE KEIRA... can someone explain to me the hate because i am kind of in the dark. i don't think she is a great actress but she is decent and she seems nice and she usually looks pretty -i think there are more than enough ugly, untalented sluts in hollywood to pick on(cameron diaz *throws up*, hilary duff, gwenyth paltrow, paris hilton ,jessica simpson....) i like that she seems humble about her fame and she was open about her early dyslexia(sp?): she seems cool to me

and speaking of pouts - has anyone seen jessica simpsons nasty lips recently? she so had them done..does she really think no one will notice?

I'm glad at least to find that someone else thought "Shakespeare in Love" was a loser film. Gwennie? Acting? Not in that film certainly. They just stuffed a pillow up her chest to make up for a decent plot.

Hmm Jack...P&P is my favourite book too...but I think I'm biased the other way....in that I never think anyone is good enough to be Elizabeth. When I first saw the 96 BBC mini-series...I thought Jennifer wasn't all that great either (too matronly...a little too rude at times)...but after seeing Keira...I've changed my mind.
I do agree with you on Matthew McFayden...I really liked him as darcy...even though he took the role on very differently to what I would have thought.
I'm going to see the American cut of P&P...you know the Euro and Australian editions cuts out the entire ending...our version ended with the father laughing.

Keira got way too much taken off her nose. It looks small, weird, and pinched.

yeah...I'm with you Janae...I think this girl has gotten a LOT more work than she's owning up to...she even denies that she's had lip work done...which to me, is ridulous.
