Lauren Bacall speaks out about Tom Cruise

I guess the nice thing about being 81 years old is that you can pretty much say whatever you want...with little consequence...another nice thing about being an old legend...is that people pretend to be interested when you're speaking of a topic that; for all the tabloids' intents and purposes,...is very last month. But...Lauren Bacall has a bone to pick...she's told Time magazine that she finds Tom Cruise 'shocking, vulgar and sick' and believes he has a 'kind of a sickness.' She also isn't very impressed with the guys' acting ability...when asked as to whether he was a great actor...she replied 'No, I don't.'

Bacall is a tough cookie, not being very impressed with Nicole Kidman's efforts either. Hey Lauren, why don't you give us your opinion on Bruce and Demi, or Gwyneth and Brad...or whether we should impeach Bill Clinton? ;)

Awwww, that frisky Bogie. Look at him peeping down Marilynn's dress.

I love when anyone is unafraid to say how they feel about how some idiot celeb is acting. So I'm glad Lauren spoke out. I think Tom's definitely "losing" it.

The fact that he commented and passed judgment upon something he'll never have to experience (Postpartum depression) infuriates me!

janae, I know what you're saying. Tom has obviously never suffered from regular clinical depressions either (as I have) or he wouldn't be saying asinine things about anti-depressents and psychatrists.

As for Bacall, she was never that great an actress (though she looked great) but when you were from that era you didn't have to be a great actor/actress. The studios knew how to make a "STAR". Lana Turner wasn't a great actress either. But there is no doubt that she and Bacall are both legends. Something I doubt Tom-Tom will ever be remembered as.

I deal with depression too, Jack...that's really why Tom's nuttiness has bugged me lately.

I have a feeling Tom is very depressed...seriously...he doesn't seem all that balanced...seriously...I think he is a repressed homosexual and lives in a bizarre Scientological fantasy...which can't be healthy for anyone. G4G...if you're speaking of the main girl in Casablanca, that was Ingrid Bergman...I've never seen anything with Lauren in it actually.

Elisa,

See To Have and Have Not or Key Large, a pair of fine Bogie and Bacall flicks. And anyone who knocks that idiot dwarf Cruise is aces in my book. He's a damn fool from the word go and I wouldn't watch one of his movies if you promised me the Swedish Bikini Team as a reward. Not being too subtle, am I?

thanks capn...I really getting into old flicks these days...I'm a big fan of character development...something which is mostly lacking in films today...:)

Yep, Lauren was not in Casablanca. She was, however in The Big Sleep and Sex and the Single Girl. Elisa is right about Ingrid Bergman. And I think it is great that she has spoken out about him, but she is doing commercials for Tuesday Morning, the T.J. Maxx-like discount store.
I'll recommend The Maltese Falcon, His Girl Friday and Double Indemnity, oh and The Postman Always Rings Twice for fun classic flicks! And Roman Holiday.

thanks shoehound...I actually haven't seen any of the ones you mentioned...will check'em out :) Isn't Roman Holiday the best???
